Since 2007, for a week in early spring, the Wordpower team brings the magic of live literary artists into classrooms. In 2012, we are thrilled to be hosting two separate Wordpower tours in different parts of the province.
The Suncor Energy Foundation is once again partnering with YABS to deliver a literary program which sends authors, illustrators and storytellers to schools in north-eastern Alberta: public and separate Fort McMurray schools, plus Northland Division schools in Fort Chipewyan, Fort McKay, Anzac, Conklin and Janvier (Chard). This year's Suncor Wordpower will take place April 16-20.
Our new partner, Cenovus Energy, is sponsoring a southern tour modeled after the successful northeast event. Cenovus Wordpower will take place March 5-9 and covers twenty rural schools in the Drumheller-Brooks area of Alberta.
The Wordpower teams also delivers a package of books by all the participating artists to each school's library.
