Biography |
Playwright Marty Chan is best known for his play, Mom, Dad, I’m Living with a White Girl, which had a successful Off Broadway run in 2004. Marty’s book, The Mystery of the Frozen Brains won the 2005 City of Edmonton Book Prize. The sequel, The Mystery of the Graffiti Ghoul, won the 2008 Diamond Willow Award. He launched the series’ third book, The Mystery of the Mad Science Teacher, in 2008. In the fall of 2010, he will launch The Mystery of the Cyber Bully, the final novel in his mystery series. Author Visit (Grades 1 – 12): A versatile writer, Marty talks about the real-life origins behind his books and plays, and gives students a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a professional writer. He adjusts his stories according to grade level, but recommends that audiences be separated by division. Writing Workshop (Grades 4 – 9): Marty Chan presents easy-to-apply writing tips and interactive demonstrations to make writing fun and exciting. Through humorous anecdotes, he shows students how easy it is to put pencil to paper and create a story using personal experiences. |
