YABS programming fosters Albertan children's literacy skills and love of reading

Three programs bring together students with professional Albertan literary artists: Taleblazers, Cenovus Wordpower and Story Avenue.

Three programs support children's literacy in other ways:

1. The Servus Credit Union Martyn Godfrey Young Writers Award is a writing contest for students in Grades 4-9.

2. The Dr. Charles Allard Win-a-Literary Artist program provides a $300 subsidy for 10 schools or libraries to host an art via the Taleblazers program.

3. The Alberta Collection is a small lending library composed of books by current and past YABS members. Books can be borrowed by teachers researching possible visitors, librarians wishing to showcase an Albertan's books, students familiarizing themselves with an artist's body of work... or anyone with an interest in Albertan children's books.
