Shea Proulx is a Calgary author illustrator who creates picture-books that bridge generations, where visual narratives steal the show. Shea is offering both in-person and online sessions for 2022-23. She is open to travel but may have limited availability due to prior commitments.
Constance Brissenden is an experienced presenter, writer, editor, and historian. She is co-author of nine award-winning books by Cree author Larry Loyie (1933-2016). Constance plans to be available for both in-person and virtual sessions in Fall 2022 and she is open to requests that require travel from Edmonton.
School visits and presentations are Suzy's favourite part of being an author. Her enthusiasm for everything literary is infectious, and will have your students digging deep to explore their own experience, emotions and writing talent. With his father in the RCMP, Robert had the opportunity to live in and visit all of Canada's provinces and territories. He was struck by how little most Canadians actually know about the northern territories of their own country. His first novel, Napachee, was inspired by the desire to teach young people more about the north in an entertaining but realistic fashion. Rob is offering both in-person and virtual sessions for the 2022-23 school year and is open to travel.
A former elementary and junior-high teacher, Karen is the author of eight middle-grade and young adult novels. Her books feature relatable kids and teens working through contemporary problems and are often set in Edmonton, where Karen has lived for many years. Gerry Rasmussen is an internationally syndicated cartoonist who has been drawing the comic strip Betty since 1991. He is also the illustrator of a series of picture books about sports. Gerry is offering both in-person and online sessions for Fall 2022 and he is open to travel.
David A. Poulsen has been a broadcaster, teacher, football coach, rodeo cowboy, stage and film actor and--most of all--writer. The author of more than 25 books, many for middle readers and young adults, David spends 60 to 80 days a year in classrooms across Canada (and beyond) as a visiting author/presenter. “I never tire of sharing my love for reading and writing with kids (and adults) of all ages." David is available for in-person sessions for 2022-23 and is happy to travel. He is open to online sessions upon request.
Lorna Schultz Nicholson is full-time writer who divides her time between Edmonton, Alberta and Penticton, British Columbia. She has published children’s picture books, middle grade fiction, YA fiction and non-fiction sports books. Lorna’s books are about family, friendships, and, well, the ups and downs of life. For the 2022/23 school year, Lorna is offering all of her sessions both in-person and online. She is open to travel.
Calgary-based Shenaaz Nanji likes to think of herself as a squid who lives under the sea but surfaces occasionally to read and write. Her publications include 11 books that include novels, short stories and picture books fiction and non-fiction. Shenaaz is offering virtual sessions in Fall 2022. She is available for half-day in-person sessions in Calgary.
