Steven Sandor is an author, magazine editor and broadcaster based in Edmonton. He’s written novels for young adults and has written non-fiction sports books for adult audiences. Please check back in August for Steven's availability.
St. Paul-based Diane Mae Robinson is an international multi-award-winning children/teen author, artist, art teacher, part-time editor and, formally, a writing instructor at the Creative Writing Institute and international short story judge. She is currently a non-touring member and not available for bookings through YABS.
Gerry Rasmussen is an internationally syndicated cartoonist who has been drawing the comic strip Betty since 1991. He is also the illustrator of a series of picture books about sports. Gerry is offering both in-person and online sessions for Fall 2024 and he is open to travel.
David A. Poulsen has been a broadcaster, teacher, football coach, rodeo cowboy, stage and film actor and--most of all--writer. The author of more than 25 books, many for middle readers and young adults, David spends 60 to 80 days a year in classrooms across Canada (and beyond) as a visiting author/presenter. “I never tire of sharing my love for reading and writing with kids (and adults) of all ages." David is available for in-person sessions for 2024-25 and is happy to travel, though he may require a minimum number of days booked for longer journeys. He is open to online sessions upon request, but prefers in-person.
Lorna Schultz Nicholson is full-time writer who divides her time between Edmonton, Alberta and Penticton, British Columbia. She has published children’s picture books, middle grade fiction, YA fiction and non-fiction sports books. Her books are about family, friendships, and, well, the ups and downs of life. Lorna has some limited availability for school bookings from January-June 2025. Please contact the office for available dates and travel radius.
Calgary-based Shenaaz Nanji likes to think of herself as a squid who lives under the sea but surfaces occasionally to read and write. Her publications include 11 books that include novels, short stories and picture books fiction and non-fiction. Please check back in September 2023 for Shenaaz's touring plans.
Calgary-based Ginger Mullen has been telling stories in schools, libraries, early childhood centres, and community organizations since 1992. Ginger is currently a non-touring member of YABS and not available for Taleblazers due to prior commitments.
Edmonton-based Tololwa Mollel is a storyteller, dramatist, and an award-winning author of over twenty books for the young and not so young in English and in Swahili, the national language of his native African country of Tanzania. Tololwa will be available for both in-person and virtual presentations for 2024.
Red Deer author Sigmund Brouwer's Rock and Roll Literacy presentation has reached over 1,000,000 students in schools across Canada and the United States. He is a bestselling author of both children and adult books, and based on this, he has established two on-line courses for teachers and librarians to use in the classroom or for distance learning. Sigmund is available for both in-person and virtual sessions and is open to travel.
Nicole is the author of fourteen SF and fantasy books for young adults. She lives with her family in Edmonton and it is physically impossible for her to go more than three days in a row without writing. Nicole is currently a non-touring member with YABS.
